Still Point
A weekend retreat in the heart of the Driftless Area of southwest Wisconsin.
For those who want to slow down, eat well, and find themselves in a landscape that hasn't forgotten how to be still.
At the still point of the turning world… there the dance is.
— T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets
Rooted in place. Unhurried by design.
Still Point is a small, curated retreat set in a beautifully restored historic home in the heart of Mineral Point, Wisconsin — a town of 2,500 tucked into the ancient hills of the Driftless Area. Built during Mineral Point's first boom when Cornish miners came for the lead and stayed for the hills, the town has spent the decades since drawing artists, makers, and food lovers to its limestone cottages and singular landscape.
Each gathering welcomes a maximum of six guests for an intimate, all-inclusive weekend built entirely around the food, makers, and landscape of the Driftless. Every retreat is thoughtfully curated around a different aspect of the region — its cheesemakers, wine & cider producers, farmers, artists, and artisans.
This is not a resort: There is no spa menu, no activities director, no itinerary overload.
Here there is a beautifully set table, remarkable food, a landscape worth paying attention to, and enough stillness to actually feel it.
Is this your weekend?
The Experience
Every Still Point weekend includes:
The Program
A curated experience built around a specific aspect of Driftless food, craft, or culture — its cheesemakers, winemakers, cider producers, artists, and artisans.
The Table
All meals from Friday welcome dinner through Sunday breakfast. The majority is sourced from the farmers, makers, and growers of the Driftless.
The Stillness
Unhurried time built into every day — deliberately and without apology. Time to wander, read, work on your own craft, or simply sit somewhere beautiful.
All inclusive · No hidden extras · Maximum six guests
The Driftless: Not like anywhere else on earth
While glaciers flattened much of the Midwest into flatness and sameness, the Driftless was spared — left with its rolling hills, deep valleys, and cold spring-fed streams found nowhere else on earth.
Some landscapes are so singular that what they produce can't be replicated anywhere else.
Champagne. Napa Valley. Burgundy. The Driftless belongs in that conversation.
Close enough. Far enough.
One hour from Madison. Two and a half hours from Milwaukee. Three hours from Chicago.
No airport. No flight. Just a beautiful drive through some of the most distinctive terrain in the Midwest — and a weekend that feels nothing like the one you left behind.
Something Custom
Still Point also offers bespoke retreats — designed around your group, your interests, and your vision of the perfect Driftless weekend. Whether you're celebrating a milestone, gathering a creative group, or simply want something entirely your own, we'd love to talk.
